I Am America & So Can You

Unbelievable. Truly remarkable. Not only can I not hawk the printed version over this clearly superior audio format - replete with the dulcet tones of an author who knows that books should be heard, and only seen on grandiose coffee table displays - but at a discount? Powells, you owe Stephen!!

Sweet Land New & Selected Stories
by

This collection has the story, "A Gravestone Made of Wheat", from which the movie "Sweet Land" was based and is a very rewarding read at a slow pace.

Mad Scientists Club

I read this over and over as a kid, and as a girl, I was way jealous of all the fun the boys got to have. This is a great series - more "Henry Reed, Inc." than "Encyclopedia Brown".

Loch
by
Steve Alten

I've always been a fan of cryptozoology and Loch Ness is like the Holy Grail. Alten has thoroughly researched his material, accents the suspense with ancient journal entries, and weaves a tale as fun as "Jaws" - all in a delightful Scottish brogue.

Pride Of Baghdad
by

This is a very timely real-life story, but especially intriguing for non-comic fans. One of the best thought-provoking graphic novels on par with Morrison's "We3".
