Daniel Boone: The Life and Legend of an American Pioneer
by
John Mack Faragher
Ruth Thompson
, April 26, 2008
Daniel Boone was a long hunter and it brought him to the hunting ground of Kentucky. He hunted the land several times before he brought his family to Boonesborough a fort on the Kentucky River. Faragher shows that Boone was a man of character. He loved the frontier and wanted to be a part of it. He wanted to live in peace with the Indians but at times he found them to be his enemy. The people he encouraged to come west began to crowd him and he began to look for a new frontier farther west. The Author was very factual about the man, Daniel Boone. Border Men
by
Cameron Judd

In “The Border Men,” Judd’s characters have the all the problems that the early settlers experience on the frontier. There on the Tennessee frontier Judd’s character have to fight for survival and deal with the political conflict. They fight the British for freedom on Kings Mountain and win the battle. I liked the conflict between the Colters and the Brechts. Things move a little slow at times and it doesn’t keep you awake. Daniel Boone: Master of the Wilderness
by
John Bakeless
Ruth Thompson
, April 26, 2008
It is always fun to read about your hometown area. The forts of central Kentucky (Ft. Harrod (the first permanent fort), Ft. McClelland (the first fort), Ft. Boonesborough, Ft.Logan, and Bryan Station) have always had a lure for me. Here in the bluegrass the settlers fought the many Indian tribes that used Kentucky for their hunting ground. Bakeless takes you from Daniel Boone's life in the east, his life in Kentucky, his life with the Indians, to his need to move on westward. It is an interesting book. by
Jackie Gould

Nathan Herrington and his brother travel from England to the frontier of America to build their home. Here in the wilds of the frontier they must face the elements of nature, the dangers of the wilderness, the Indians, and Elizabeth. Jackie’s story of survival in the Wilderness is a good read.
