Another wonderfully moving book by Hosseini. He is such a gifted writer. From page one you are invested in the characters and must know what becomes of them. Excellant book and author!

The Kite Runner

Khaled Hosseini

I loved this book from beginning to end. Some of the story was excruciating to read because you felt the character's pain so deeply but it was a truly moving book. I loved the characters and the story. Hosseini is an extremely talented author. I actually read his other book, "A Thousand Splendid Suns" first and could not wait to read this. I was not disappointed. I can't wait for more books by him.

by
Jean Reynolds Page

This book deals with the intricate dynamics of family relationships and how they affect our lives now and for many years to come. Holli is forced to deal with her past family problems when she is trying to help her son deal with his current problems. Very interesting book and the characters were all unique and likeable.

Leap of Faith Memoirs of an Unexpected Life
by
Queen Noor
LauraAdams
, September 25, 2008
This book was more of a history lesson in the Middle Eastern Countries and their conflicts within than a personal memoir. It was much too in depth for me. I enjoyed the personal narratives of the book when she described her early life, courtship and marriage to King Hussein but didn't enjoy the continuos history lesson which consumed the majority of the book. I did finish the book with a wonderful impression of the Queen Noor and King Hussein but bored with the book in general.

"90 Minutes in Heaven" was a very uplifting book. It gives us insight into the afterlife. I would recommend this book to anyone - those who already believe in God and especially to those who don't.

Knitting Circle

We read this book for our book club and everyone enjoyed it. It deals with a mother and father that lose their 5 year old daughter to meningitis and how they try to piece their lives back together afterwards. Although it was fiction, the author has lost a young daughter so the grieving process was written about with much knowledge. After reading the book several in our book club have started trying to knit also.

Loving Frank
by

I really enjoyed "Loving Frank". It was interesting and dealt with many issues including women's rights, gender roles, feminism, adultery, divorce and the cost of pursuing one's happiness when doing so goes against the grain. It is fiction based upon history. I enjoyed learning more about the real life of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright and his mistress. The ending was sad but it was not fiction so there was not much the author could do about that. I was left interested in the characters after finishing the book and have since done some research of my own about their lives. I have found the book was true to every known fact that I found. I highly recommend this book.

Parchment Of Leaves
by
Silas House

We are reading this book for our book club this month and I have found it to be a very good read. I am from rural Ky so I was very interested in reading this book. It is set back in the early 1900s and seems very true to form of what I have heard about the area, people and beliefs then. The characters are intriguing and the writing exceptional. I highly recommend this book to others.

Life of Pi
by
Yann Martel
LauraAdams
, June 27, 2008
I chose this book for our book club but was a little disappointed in it overall. The first half of the book was a little hard to get interested in. It jumped from the author to Pi and was a little scattered and hard to follow. I found the 2nd half of the book much more interesting. It was a little out there and I did not find it a book that "made me believe in God" as tauted. I do believe in God but this book did nothing to strenghen that in the least. I came away feeling like the animals were sybolic of other things as in Animal Farm, etc. I did not hate it or love it. Not sure that I really even understood it.
