Beautiful You
by
Palahniuk, Chuck
Jose Juarez
, September 30, 2015
Beautiful You turned out to be real entertaining for me. Penny is a fresh out of law school beautiful girl looking for her role in life. She gets caught up in a life of pleasure and seduction when she meets C. Linus Maxwell. An evil genius who plans out world domination through the pleasuring of women with sex toys, drinks, and Nanobots. All created for the purpose of enslaving females worldwide. The story has the right touch of comedy, sometimes not precisely on purpose but comical none the less. It's highly entertaining with a right mixture of sci-fi tones and clever writing. It's a straight forward entertaining read. If your not a fan of Chuck Palahniuk, you will be.

On Writing
by
Charles Bukowski
Jose Juarez

An endearing look into the mind of Charles "the Buk" Bukowski. Filled with truths and the most elegant rants you've probably ever read. It is a hilarious page turner; classic to Bukowskis being. Like his novels you'll feel that you are hanging out with him and that he never left. Bukowski's letters (and Stories) are the epitome of how a person can live on even after they are gone. A fun read. Thanks, Linda Bukowski, for continuing Bukowski's legacy.

I read an excerpt of Chads new book and I Could tell that it is just creative and entertaining as his two previous books. Five stars! Can't wait to have his new book in my hands to pick up where I left off. A must read of the summer! See* The Average American Male (hilarious!) And The Lie (cruel and hilarious!)

Computers and thrillers not really my thing; read. But this book is well worth the time. Awesome characters. Starts of a bit bit slow but quickly captures your attention and the readers want to know what's next. Movie is in the works but absolutely everybody should know by now that movies don't always do justice to exceptional novels and books. Just read it break out of your mindset and read something new or different!

by
Scott Odell

I also read this book when I was in elementary school, i'm 24 years old and still remember this book. It's definitely a memorable story. Scott O'Dell tells a story about an island that becomes over run by the white man. When the surviving natives decide to scape the island one girl, Karana, is left behind alone in the island for 18 years and survives. In her story of courage and survival she fights of wild dogs and loneliness. Eventually she is rescued only to die because her inviability to adapt to the city life. The story is based actual facts and it's a children's book that adults will enjoy.

Inventing Reality The Politics of News Media
by
Michael Parenti

Eye opening. I came across this book by accident at a yard sale decided to read it. It was an incredible insight into how media can and has been controlled by corporations. One explanation that caught my mind was the one about Journalist "self-censorship" culture, Parenti explains how basically most Journalist start off wanting to make a difference and report on what really matters (real news) but are quickly subdued into making advertisers happy.

I gave this book a try. I got to say I was a little bit disappointed. If you haven't already read it, get Slaughter-house Five also by Kurt Vonnegut, it'll give you a true perspective on Kurt's genius.

Journeys Of Socrates
by
Dan Millman
Jose Juarez
, November 18, 2009
Had I known that Dan Millman is known for writing inspirational books I probably would have never read The Journeys of Socrates but I was lucky enough to know nothing about the author when I came about this book at a bookstore a couple years back. The story is not about the philosopher Socrates. Socrates is the nickname Sergei Ivanov got from his grandfather. Socrates story begins with lots of turmoil and tragedy. It evolves into a man seeking answers and vengence but in the end, Socrates finds what he needed most. The story has a little history, love, action/violance and a well rounded ending. Don't miss out, read it. "A spell-binding account of courage, faith, and love, The Journeys of Socrates reveals how a boy became a man how a man became a warrior and how a warrior found peace."

The Fuck Up: Revised

Two or three stars for this book. The Fuck Up is similar to likes of Charles Bukowski and Chad Kultgen but failed to intrigue me. If you must give it a try buy a used copy.
