Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. This is another great Hannah Swensen mystery. She keep you on your toes wondering which man she is really in love with. Her cat brought smiles to my face several times throughout the book. I can taste her morning coffee, and feel the steam from her morning showers. She gives you license to make some easy (you think) assumptions on who murdered Rhonda. It is a great book to carry and pick up when you have a few minutes to read a chapter of two. It also has some great cookie recipes.

I read this book and it was a real adventure. Took my emotions from elated to sad to heart break. It really made me think of what goes on daily that I or we do not think about. Once you have read it, you will never forget the emotions you will feel. Great book.

This book should be read by all lovers of animals. It is a journey of love, loss, and awakening. The people are so real you feel as though you could call them on the phone. The animals get into your heart and you will never let them go even if the story is fiction. It makes you wonder what is truth and what is fiction. Bits of this story have been in the headlines at some time. This book made a mark in my heart I will never forget. Read it, you will not be sorry but you will think.
