T. Brian Chatfield

, October 01, 2008
T Brian Chatfield’s book Your First Cruise: A Complete Guide to Planning and Attaining the Perfect Cruise Vacation is a great resource if you’ve never planned a cruise vacation and want a new and exciting way to experience the world. Cruises are no longer for the rich: with more and more ships popping up with more and more vacation packages, cruises are fast becoming a popular way to spend a vacation, both for individuals and for families. This book demystifies the cruise experience and will help you book your next important voyage. Reading this book before you plan a cruise will not only help you plan your vacation, but it will save you time, money, and energy. This book doesn’t just cover how to choose which ship to commit to or what package to invest in, but it covers everything from what you should pack to how tipping works. The book even takes the time to discuss questions people are afraid to ask: everything from how the final bill is created to what cabins really look like to how meals work. Chatfield’s book culminates with a list of reputable cruise companies to consider when arranging your vacation. Consequently, the book takes you through not only planning your cruise but also walking you through your first day onboard. The range of this book ensures that your first cruise is relaxing. In fact, after reading this book, the reader will feel as if they’ve already been on a cruise. Instead of spending one’s first cruise learning the ropes, you’ll be able to sit back and enjoy your vacation on the wide open seas.

The Reverse Mortgage Book: Everything You Need to Know Explained Simply
by
Cindy Holcomb
books454
, October 01, 2008
This is a must-have book for people looking for a book that will explain the principles and complexities behind the concept of the reverse mortgage. Holcomb writes with clarity and precision: her book is like a diagram the reader can follow to understand one of the more important and less transparent components of finance. This book is great for both people with a background in finance and the everyday consumer looking for an education. Though the book is easy to understand, it is not basic or dumbed down. Instead, it takes complex ideas and breaks them down. The book’s very layout is logical and straightforward. Holcomb opens the piece by explaining the pros and cons of having a mortgage. From here, the book builds its information, moving deftly through complex ideas. The Reverse Mortgage Book: Everything You Need to Know Explained Simply is able to talk not only about the pros and cons of reverse mortgage, but it even takes on Canada’s CHIP loan, the country’s version of the US’s reverse mortgage. This book shows the reader everything from payment plan options to the actual steps of how to release one’s property equity and to defer payments until the homeowner dies, and with more and more people making it past the age of 60, this is a book that is more than relevant. The best part of Holcomb’s book is that she has no agenda: she gets nothing out of whether or not the reader decides to invest in a reverse mortgage, and this shows in the writer’s language. When Holcomb speaks about the benefits of reverse mortgage, the result seems honest and true. For the writer to delve into the different kinds of cash disbursement offered to an individual is something personable, something that delves right down into the nitty gritty of the loan. In this day and age, little is transparent, and Holcomb is able to lift the veil of loans to show what lays beneath.

Complete Guide to Writing Effective & Award Winning Business Proposals Step By Step Instructions
by
Jean W Murray
books454
, October 01, 2008
Murray’s book takes the mystical proposition of a business proposal and cracks it open to show the reader its parts. A business proposal is one of the most important pieces of paper you’ll need to start a new business: if you write a clear, professional proposal, you increase your chances of attracting not only backers but also clients and local support. The Complete Guide to Writing Effective and Award-Winning Business Proposals dissects the business proposal and shows the reader its parts: there’s a section on everything from the cover letter you’ll need to write, the costs you’ll need to break down, and the profile of your business or company that you’ll need to craft. Murray does a nice job of not only listing and discussing the business proposal’s parts, but she also explains the elements to crafting a successful proposal. The five key elements Murray writes about are solutions, benefits, credibility, samples, and targeted. This book is particularly great for people who are just starting out with business proposals. Professionals might find some of the book’s content redundant. For example, someone who’s just starting out would want to know when a business proposal is needed (i.e. who requests them), but someone who’s been in the game a long time isn’t necessarily going to need this information. The great thing is that this book will not only help you learn the parts of a business proposal, but it will help you learn how to write persuasively, an area some books do not cover. This way, your proposal will not only impress people but will persuade them to trust you and your ideas. If you’re looking for a breakdown of the seemingly mysterious business proposal, this book is the right one for you. Starting from the beginning, the book will walk you through the business proposal process. One standout section of the book is the piece discussing the legal side to business proposals. This is an areas that some people may overlook because they’re focused on funding, profits, and barometers of success. Murray writes sharply about the safeguards you’ll need and the things to consider when crafting a proposal. It’s this detail-oriented approach that makes this a great book for people just starting out in the world of business.
