Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It is impossible to write about this shocking story briefly. It is possible to mark from top pages, that an author is a journalist. Feeling, passion and sensitiveness to the details does a book antihinduism the manifest. By the manifest, however, arising out of authentic anxiety about that takes place in India. I think that an author did that followed him — rocked public opinion, and showed them horrific the truthful face of country, which indeed needs serious changes which it is impossible to carry out without the change of mentality of Indians. But force of this book in ambiguous associations, different points of view on different problems, in the convincing clarity of every judgement.

When I am asked to tell about this book, I am on a minute lost. «Waters for elephants» is a book from a digit those which did not give to sleep at nights in childhood. Together with Yakobom Yankovskim you sullenly look from the window of house aged as rebelling life passes by, together with him remember. And experience old pain ot death of parents, hurry recklessly, jump on the roof of the first carriage turned up you and appear in a movable circus, circus of epoch of «Great depression», where a place has all - to the bearded women, arrant gangsters, avid director, wonders, love and surprising elephant Rozi, to understanding only Polish. «Waters for elephants» is a book, able to return reading magic, when a subject suddenly becomes how hardly not... by reality. When go along with hero becomes part of your day, by part you.

Magical, light, interesting book. I read a book and looked a film. A film strongly loses an original source (book). Some moments are touched to the tears. Book on fragility of life. About a necessity to value every spent day. Beautiful history, it is desirable to trust that so is in life. Read this book and you will want to read all books of this author!!! : )
