Shock Doctrine The Rise of Disaster Capitalism

This book is by turns wonderful and unrelentingly unpleasant to read. I'm about halfway through, and I've been shocked by outrage after outrage. But that's why this book is so necessary. These outrages are taking place, whether we know about them or not. I'm glad that there's someone like Naomi Klein with the clarity of vision to perceive these terrible abuses and the ways in which they are connected. Please read this book. The future may depend on it.

Brilliant. People have noted in the past that The Elements of Style is a near-perfect example of the very qualities it espouses. Here is another book that approaches the same perfection. Absolutely essential.
