How to Open & Operate a Financially Successful Cleaning Service [With CDROM]
by
Beth Morrow
Brick
, March 23, 2009
Morrow, Beth, How to Open and Operate a Successful Cleaning business, Atlantic Publishing, book, 290 pgs. In this book, Beth Morrow covers a lot of ground, in which a beginning cleaning business owner, as well as a thoroughly entrenched owner of decades, will find useful and relevant information. The book covers the business end, such as picking a name, how to file the proper permits, zoning boards, filing with the IRS and the like. For the beginning business owner, this is a valuable resource on issues that may not be considered. There are many and varied intricacies that need to be discussed and well-thought out, which Beth Morrow does quite well. An owner of a well-established business will find this book a valuable resource, as many of the facts and forms are laid out and may provide a new way of doing business or offering services. The title of the book gives the impression of a cleaning guide, more than how to file business liability or develop service manuals. The author goes into quite detailed explanations of many aspects of opening a cleaning business (and could well be written for any business, in general), such as sole-proprietorships or limited liability corporations. The gist of the book is written for a sole-proprietorship, like a guiding hand through each and every step. The appendix has great resources for facts, forms and example business lists, as well as subsequent parallel publications offered by Atlantic Publishing. This book is a great resource that should not be missed by anyone considering opening a cleaning business. I would give this book four stars. Brick ONeil

How to Write & Design a Professional Resume to Get the Job: Insider Secrets You Need to Know [With CDROM]
by
Mayer, Dale
Brick
, March 23, 2009
How to write and design a professional résumé to get the job : insider secrets you need to know : with companion CD-ROM / by Dale Mayer; Atlantic Publishing Group, Inc., book; 290 pages. It’s no secret there are many books, CD’s, programs and lectures on Resumes, job hunting, interviewing and the like, but Dale Mayer does a remarkably well job in this book. Mayer covers quite a few subjects. Not only Resumes, but different types of resumes, from the student to mid- or change-career resumes, as well as executive and self-employment resumes, but also interview tips, online resumes, portfolios. There literally, is something for everyone. Mayer goes into detail on each type of resume, even providing worksheets, examples and statements from professionals in the industry. Worksheets are mostly for those who have never written a resume, such as students or those coming from a displaced home. The examples are timely and easily understood, for beginners and those who are writing a resume after an extended absence. The short statements from professionals are well-written and show a glimpse into what other Resume professional writers suggest, underscoring Mayer’s professionalism. The pace of the book is steady, no subject or area was either rushed or plodding. The language is easy to understand, the examples are well laid out and the tone is of a discussion, rather than a lecture or berating the reader. Mayer is to be congratulated on writing an easy to understand book that gives so many people looking for work such a difficult time. Even the most hardened job seeker will find tidbits to draw from. Do you have a Brand? Would you like one? What about an online video resume? Or a Weblog or webpage to highlight yourself or skills? This book deserves a five star rating.

Internet Marketing Revealed: The Complete Guide to Becoming an Internet Marketing Expert
by
Miguel Todaro
Brick
, March 23, 2009
Internet Marketing Methods Revealed, The Complete Guide to Becoming an Internet Marketing Expert; book; Miguel Todaro; Atlantic Publishing Group, Inc.; 338 pgs. Review: Brick ONeil One phrase that I would use with Miguel Todaro’s book is “In-Depth”. In this Internet Marketing book, Miguel leaves no stone unturned. If, after reading, studying and putting into practice his sage advice, you don’t have significant new growth for your business, you can’t blame the author. In this detailed Marketing book, Todaro discusses in-depth SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Optimization, PPC (pay per click), Keywords, Ads, Newsletters, E-Mail Marketing, E-Commerce Strategy, CMS (Content Management Systems), flash and SEO. His most discussed subject is PPC (pay per click) Marketing, devoting five of his twenty chapters to it. Todaro discusses HTML quite a bit, for those that are more than spectators or have more than a passing interest in developing their own (or work in the field of Marketing or computer languages) web pages, marketing, PPC, etc. This book is more for the professional Internet Marketer than a casual observer or beginner. If you’re wondering how to start Marketing your business or service on the internet, or are looking for a chapter or two to get a good idea of what Miguel Todaro is all about, a good place to start is his chapters on submitting your website to Internet Search Engines and Keywords. Keywords are of a vital importance to getting good traffic to your website. These two chapters could help even the most novice Internet Marketer successfully build traffic to their website, business or service. With as much detail as Miguel Todaro goes into, this is more geared towards other professional Internet Marketers (or, at the very least, towards those who have a more passing acquaintance with HTML, PPC and the like). I would rate this book a 5, if only for the two chapters on submission and keywords.
