This is a very, very, very good book. I could not put this book down about a flawed social worker, alcoholic, father, and friend who tries to help families( especially their children) who are always in dire straits. I think there is a whole lot of truth in this fictional account of the brutality that defines the lives of both those being helped and those who are the helpers. Snith Henderson, I hope you have a whole bunch of books still up in that brain of yours, I'm recommending Fourth of July Creek to all my reader friends.

I loved loved loved this book even though it is filled with grief and anger, and disappointment, and loss. It is also full of hope and forgiveness and luscious writing which will take you to a small town in Montana where tragedy seems to repeat itself all too often. I don't think I can part with it, will definitely keep it on the shelf " for the home" when they cart me off and place me in a facility where bookshelf space is limited. I can't wait to see what this amazing writer produces next.
