Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. While I loved the writing and by no means am a person needing concrete, tied in pretty bow endings I was let down by this story. Loose ends and plot lines that, while intriguing, go nowhere. I spent big bucks to buy in hdbk based on fantastic reviews. Meh... C+

I thought this book was well written and thought provoking. Today I was reading in The Atlantic, Ju/Ag '08 (Is Google Making Us Stupid?) that the guys who founded Google speak of "creating an artificial intelligence, a HAL-like machine that might be connected directly to our brains." M.T. Anderson was prescient. btw I'm a school librarian, not a teen, and think adults would find this book interesting too. You might like Anderson's Pox Party series for more original storytelling.

As a librarian and a certified yoga teacher books and yoga figure large in my life. I have many, many yoga books, but hands down Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health is the one I use most. (In fact it remains on the floor beside my mat.) Highly recommend this title for serious students, teachers seeking solutions for their own or student's ailments or just a great book full of practice sequences.
