Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Moonlight on Odessa is the best book I read in 2011. It's funny, sad, enlightening and more. I absolutely loved the ending and am anxiously awaiting my chance to read another book by Ms. Charles.

Just finished reading this book and it was fantastic! It's one of those books that, when you're done, the next few books you read seem boring by comparison. Anyway, it's about two young sisters who disappear from a mall with no trace. When they aren't found, their devastated family moves on with their lives until 30 years later, out of the blue, one of them reappears. But is it really her or an imposter? And what happened to her sister? An investigator, social worker and lawyer try to piece together the past and verify her true identity. A fascinating mystery that you'll find hard to put down.

This is a fantastic vintage travel book published in 1950, shortly before the Dalai Lama fled the country in 1959. The dedication is "To His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, And the People of Tibet..." Read this book to help understand not only the Tibetan people, but also for insight into the political events which were occurring at the time.
