Planet of the Blind

This is a gorgeous book! It reads like a poem, begging to be read aloud. Gives an understanding of how it might be to be blind, but more so, how alike we all are -- sighted and non-sighted. I have read this book 4 times, and will read it again. Can't get enough of the beautiful poetry of the words. Listen to this, as he describes being in a crowd with his guide dog: "We don't know where we are, and though the world is dangerous, it's also haunting in its beauty. Even to a lost man with a speck of something like seeing, this minute here, just standing, taking in the air as a living circus, this is what tears of joy are for." For me, tears of joy are for having discovered this book! Read it! Read it!

This book is wonderful! Leads to hours of fun for kids (and parents)! Instructions are easy to follow and the drawings are delightful. Highly recommended book.
