Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead

All mystery fans, fans of good writing, and lovers of New Orleans should check out this fabulous new novel. It's truly a game-changer in the genre. Claire DeWitt, the heroine of this planned series, can seem at first like kind of a ne'er-do-well young woman. Yet we soon learn that she's a prominent member of a fascinating group of super-detectives. The story, which centers on the apparent senseless murder of a local prosecutor, plunges Claire straight into the creepy netherworld of post-Katrina New Orleans, where well-armed young people will shoot anybody at the drop of a hat. Yet we also learn that many of them are eminently "savable", if someone like Claire has the nerve take a chance on them. As if that's not enough, Claire is also trying to save herself, in the most serious sense of the idea... and she just might show the rest us how to do the same. Don't wait, get your copy of "Claire DeWitt and The City of the Dead" now!

Best book I read all year. Like finding out your favorite uncle has been in the Stones all this time -- and has 500 cool stories to share.
