The Complete Guide to Planning Your Estate in Indiana: A Step-By-Step Plan to Protect Your Assets, Limit Your Taxes, and Ensure Your Wishes Are Fulfil
by
Ashar, Linda C. and Baker, Sandy and Allen-Niesen, Kim L.

Freelance journalist Sandy Baker and attorney/writer Linda C Ashar have combined forces to publish the informative The Complete Guide to Planning Your Estate in Indiana”. The book gives the reader a chance to learn about Indiana law as it pertains to how they can go about planning and appointing their estate. There are fourteen chapters with a glossary listing that would help readers to better understand the property jargon that is contained therein. In the first chapter one can learn about the Introduction to Estate Planning with sub chapters which delve into property types and it also takes a closer look at the key people involved in estate planning including the financial planner, accountant and insurance agent. The rest of the book also covers every aspect of estate planning including lowering federal estate taxes, putting insurance together to a chapter on what happens to the estate during a divorce and what the children are entitled to. Overall this book is one that your estate planner would not want you to see since, by the time you are finished reading it, you would be more than prepared to meet with and discuss your estate with confidence and decode estate attorney-speak.

How to Start & Make a Conversation How to Talk to Anyone in 30 Seconds or Less
by
Gottschalk, Christopher

, March 09, 2010
For anyone who has had problems approaching and making conversation with others, they would definitely appreciate this book by author Chris Gottschalk. Written in a very laid-back and uncomplicated style, the book gives the reader all the ammunition they would need to not only strike up a conversation but to keep people’s interest as well. With e-mail being the preferred form of communication for some, Gottschalk is an advocate for face to face conversations. In 11 chapters he guides readers on making conversation with online friends, a boss and even your significant other. In the first few chapters we learn about how communication skills can benefit our physical and social well being. You would also read about how to start and master conversations, about social anxiety and even about how you can take control of a conversation. Elsewhere in the book is an interesting topic about “Non-starters – attitudes and tactics that can kill a conversation” which warns against arguing your point when having a conversation. “The first step in order to avoid being argumentative is to realize that your opinions may not be perfect either," he writes. "When someone has a different point of view than you, try to understand why he has that opinion instead of trying to disprove it. Ask questions about his point of view, and show a genuine desire to understand.” To illustrate his point on the importance of conversation, Gottschalk also quotes from psychologists and public figures such as Dan Quayle and Jackie Onassis. Overall How to start and make a conversation is a good read and very informative. It’s one of those books that you can apply to every aspect of your social life and one that will always be at your fingertips.
