Mysteries Of Winterthurn
by
Joyce Carol Oates
Michael Bailey
, February 20, 2007
Joyce Carol Oates is a phenomenally great author! The Mysteries of Winterthurn contains 3 mysteries told in a high-spirited, late-nineteenth-century prose. Ms Oates recaps some of the best features of classic detective fiction, while expanding the scope of the fiction beyond the genre. It's almost impossible not to be made to think by a JCO book - and this one is no exception. It will linger in your mind and challenge your conscience.

Neglected poet, columnist and teacher. Great stuff. Upcoming movie on him, with Denzel Washington (really)
