Complete Guide to Making Your Own Wine at Home Everything You Need to Know Explained Simply
by
John N Peragine

Wine-lovers will rejoice at this helpful, detailed guide that explains everything a novice needs to know about making wine at home. If you dream of opening your own winery one day, this guide even has plans to get you to that point. If you’ve tried and failed to make wine before, this guide will likely explain how to correct one of the dozens of mistakes you make have made. Who knew that soft water will make wine salty and create problems in the fermenting process? There are more than 20 common problems the book trouble-shoots and explanations on how they can be avoided. There’s also an extensive recipe section that has more types of wine than I knew existed. It's a great handbook whether you are curious what is involved in the wine-making process or if you're ready to get started and want to make sure you don't forget a step. An ideal book for beginners.

The Complete Guide to Renovating Older Homes: How to Make It Easy and Save Thousands
by
Jeanne Lawson

Even the most dilapidated older house could be transformed into a historically authentic gem after reading this book and following its helpful, detailed steps. It’s not an idea book for those dreaming of decorating or remodeling projects. Instead, it offers some insight to the somewhat difficult process of fixing the broken, outdated and inefficient home while preserving its authentic charm. Starting a home renovation project can be cost-prohibiting even in modern homes, so I was glad to see this book started out with helpful tips on how to save money. There’s also a logical order to the book. I’m glad all the planning aspects, such as hiring consultants and checking local building code regulations, are mentioned at the beginning instead of half way through, when it may be too late. There are also helpful hints for those set on doing projects by themselves, such as a comprehensive tool list and information on tax incentives. There are so many remodeling books that only address cosmetic improvements. This goes beyond that to list signs of foundation problems, describe types of old roofing and detailed steps of how to fix leaky, old roofs. It’s prefect for a detail-oriented person who wants a comprehensive checklist of everything that should be considered before undertaking the project. It has instructions that would be hard to find elsewhere, much less is one place, about the unique problems older houses face, such as asbestos, poor air circulation and antiquated heating systems. As a bonus, it includes insiders’ tips and helpful evaluation forms for every part of a project.

How to Open & Operate a Financially Successful Import Export Business [With CDROM]
by
Maritza Manresa

, April 13, 2010
If the thought of staring an Import Export business seems intimidating, this book will break the process down in simple steps so that it’s not too overwhelming. It’s a necessary read for those who are experienced in business, but have little industry-specific expertise or for those who have trade experience, but little business or management knowledge. It outlines every step to starting an Import Export business rather simply, so that a beginner would know exactly what to expect. Some sections of the book include advice that seems a little obvious, such as the importance of securing Internet access at an office, a list of office supplies or reminding readers to bring a passport while traveling abroad. However, other sections of the book explain complicated subjects such as trade regulations in foreign countries and details about the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule. There are numerous helpful charts, copies of forms and sample budgets. It’s also useful that the book includes the Web site addresses to find trade rates, product information, industry social networking sites and new regulations. For its comprehensive list of references alone, it’s worth hanging on to even after a business is up and running. The case studies were probably the most interesting aspect of the book. These short narratives explain one particular aspect of the industry from the perspective of a business owner. It helps add real-world relevance to the nuts-and-bolts details
