Promise Of The Wolves
by

A promise of a wolf: never consort with humans. Never kill a human unprovoked. Never allow a mixed-blood wolf to live. Kaala is brought into the Swift River Pack, but she has mixed blood, and she was born without permission. She thinks it is going to be a definite death for her, until two mysterious figures say that she must live. In Promise of The Wolves you become a wolf pup who needs to use all of her will to survive. As you read through Kaala's perspective you begin to feel as if you were there in her pack, and it adds to the intensity of her situations. This book is great for animal lovers, but would be good for anyone. I think this book was written for teens, and young adults, but would be okay for anyone. One theme I identified is that just because someone does not go with the flow, or was born out of guidelines, does not mean that the are a bad person. Another theme is that when you have the will to do something then you need to work at it, and eventually, someone, somewhere, will see what you see. And they will stand up for it. I loves this book and recommend it to all.

Song of the Lioness 02 In The Hand of the Goddess

Alan is in his squire years at the castle of Trebond. But things are not so simple for Alan, because Alan is actually Alanna. A girl who, disguised as a boy, switched places with her twin brother to become a knight. This book is filled with action and adventure, and the tiniest bit of romance. Lies, knights, power-thirsty lords. And is Prince Jonathan simply a mentor, or something more? I loved this book, and it is one of my favorites. I have read it multiple times, and would read it again. Even after the first read you feel a connection to the characters and want, or do not want, them to succeed. One of the themes in that girls are not weak, and should not be thought to be. Though a more important theme is that not everything is won by violence and war. This book was written for teens and young adults, but would be great for all ages. I recommend it to anyone.

Chronicles of Prydain 01 Book Of Three

An adventure filled fantasy awaits within the pages of The Book of Three. As you move through this story it will draw you in with action and adventure. The main character of this story is Taran, a very unlikely, but true hero. He chases his pig into the forest, but finds he is running into more than what he seems to be. This story is great for a later elementary student and older. The themes in this book are thoughtful and full of meaning One theme I recognized is that anyone can be a hero, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or what they fight for. Another theme is that to do something great you can not walk alone. Being able to recognize that we all rely on one another is something we should all learn. I enjoyed this book, it has depth about the characters, and action to keep you reading. I would recommend The Book of Three to anyone who wants a thrilling and great tale that moves along fairly quickly.
