Palace Chronicles 02 Palace Of Mirrors
by

What if every day you went through life knowing that you are someone completely different then people know you as. That you must keep your past a secret from all people. That you must always be careful of what you say. Well that is exactly how Cecilia must act everyday in the book Palace of Mirrors. Cecilia has always known that she was a princess, but never had the chance to be one. She has always learned and practiced the ways of one. Well one day she decides to go claim her place as princess. As she makes her way to the castle she encounters many obstacles and something that changes her mind on who she might be. I found this book to be quite entertaining and engrossing. I think that Margaret Peterson Haddix intended for Palace of Mirrors to be read by upper elementary students and middle schoolers. Although I think anyone should this story. If you like fairy tales but with an amazing twist I recommend Palace of Mirrors.

London Calling
by
Edward Bloor

Imagine that you were transported back to London during World War 2. Everyone around you knows that danger is always around the corner, but yet act if nothing were to happen. That at any moment an air raid siren could go off and you were unprotected. Well that is what happens to Martin the main character in the book London Calling. Martin gets a radio from his grandmother. Whenever he falls asleep by it, he transports back to London while World War 2 is happening. He meets a kid named Jimmy (a young boy in London. Also the only one who can see or hear Martin) and they become good friends. Jimmy and Martin have many adventures while he is there. I thought this book was quite engaging. I think that Edward Bloor intended for London Calling to be read by 5th graders and up. I highly recommend this to people who like adventure and a little bit of history.

Imagine that you were facing death. Unable to run away but towards it. Fighting a battle against death. Well that is what happens to Taran and his companions. He must battle the warriors and leader of death. This is one of the many adventures that they encounter on their journey in the book, The Book of Three. Taran is the main character who is an assistant pig keeper but wants to be a hero. One day an important pig runs off and he must find and return the pig. while looking for the pig named Hen Wen, he comes upon many good and bad happenings. This book is quite entertaining. At first I thought I would not like it but as I read, I became engrossed with it. I think the author intended for The Book of Three to be read by upper elementary groups and up.
