Dark Tower 01 Gunslinger
by
Stephen King
ReaderOfBooks
, September 03, 2011
When people think of Stephen King, most of them immediately think that he only writes horror novels. This book proves them all wrong. It is about a gunslinger in a dying world chasing down a mysterious 'Man in Black', who has the answers to the gunslinger's most important questions. It is a remarkable, fast - paced book that is rewarding in the end. I thought this book was amazing, and it is truly one of my favorites.

I think this is probably the most meaningful thing I have ever read. David Foster Wallace never stops amazing me with his intellect, passion and, most importantly, kindness.

Maximum Ride 01 The Angel Experiment
by
James Patterson
ReaderOfBooks
, July 21, 2011
Maximum Ride is such an exciting book. There is action from the very beginning, and it doesn't stop until the book is over. Max is a great character. It's easy to feel the same way she does when anything happens. What also makes her a good character is that she changes by the end of the book. At the beginning, she is unwilling to think of the rest of the flock as equal to her, but by the end she realizes that they are all just as important as her, and that they couldn't survive if they were without even one of them. I would recommend this book; it's a great read!

Consider The Lobster & Other Essays
by
David Foster Wallace
ReaderOfBooks
, July 19, 2011
David Foster Wallace is one of my favorite writers of all time. His ideas are smart and valuable. I really like the essay "Consider the Lobster" . It made a lot of sense, and it really made me think about what people choose to eat and the lengths they will go to in order to eat that particular food. Wallace writes as if he is talking to you in person, and that makes reading this book even better.

Out of the Dust: Novel
by
Hesse, Karen
ReaderOfBooks

I love this book! It's very easy to connect with Billie Jo Kelby. She is a good character, in that she overcomes her difficulties with her hands and with forgiving her father for her mother's death. I really like how the book is written in free verse poems. It makes the reader focus more on the events that happen, and how Billie Jo feels about them. The end of the book is the best part, in my opinion.

Slaughterhouse Five Or the Childrens Crusade a Duty Dance with Death
by
Kurt Vonnegut
ReaderOfBooks
, April 02, 2011
This is my favorite book in the world! Billy Pilgrim's time - traveling throughout the book adds a lot of fun to it. You never know what part of his life you'll be reading about next. I also like the Tralfamadorians and how they view time like a stretch of mountains. I like how Kurt Vonnegut tells Billy Pilgrim's life in a non - chronological order. His traveling through time shows how little control he has in his life, in a way. It uses the idea of having no free will, like some other Kurt Vonnegut novels, like Cat's Cradle. Awesome book!

On the Road
by
Jack Kerouac
ReaderOfBooks

I think this book is very good. There's nothing better than a book about traveling the country. It's like the American Dream! I really like the beginning of the book, when Sal Paradise/Jack Kerouac is going to Colorado to meet his friends. It's my favorite part. It seems fun to ride in the back of a pickup with a whole bunch of people, like he did. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of traveling, or anyone who likes the Beat Generation; because this book is pretty much as Beat as you can get. Dean Moriarty/Neal Cassady adds a lot to the book, and so does Carlo Marx/Allen Ginsberg. Great book!

One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
by
Ken Kesey
ReaderOfBooks
, March 31, 2011
This book is a classic. It's one of my favorites! R.P. McMurphy's rebellion against Nurse Ratched is funny, yet serious at the same time. The entire book deals with issues like being an outsider, fighting authority, and not backing down; McMurphy and Nurse Ratched fight each other and push each others' boundaries as long as they can, until they break. In the end, the reader is left to wonder if it was McMurphy or Nurse Ratched that really won the battle, and how they changed each others' lives.

Early Frost The First Three Books
by
Robert Frost
ReaderOfBooks
, October 13, 2010
Robert Frost's early poetry is great to read. The poems all have a certain quality to them that is unmatched by a lot of other poets. It contains some of his most well - known poems, like "The Road Not Taken" and, my favorite, "After Apple - Picking". Robert Frost is truly my favorite poet.
