Somewhere Inside: One Sister's Captivity in North Korea and the Other's Fight to Bring Her Home

I loved this book. I was aware of the situation (two journalists imprisoned in North Korea for crossing into Korean territory from China) while it was happening, but the book enriched my memory and my understanding of the intrigue and political maneuvering that was involved in arranging the release of the journalists. I found the book a real page turner. It is extremely well written (not surprising considering the authors are both journalists) and the format of going back and forth between the Korean experience and the home front was perfect. It was a wonderful book club book creating a lot of good conversations.

Wonderfully written book with intriguing characters. Set in early sixties Mississippi, it deals with the civil rights movement, and racial relations and class relations in a very believable manner.

This is a great book for book group discussions. Set in the early sixties in Mississippi it addresses the civil rights movement as well as personal relationships between the races and the desperate economic status of the well to do and their servants. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and making the situations very believable.

Wonderful introduction to a culture foreign to most of us, yet still a compelling story.
