Culture Smart Ghana A Quick Guide to Customs & Culture

Culture Smart helped me to interact with people and avoid causing any embarrassment. An insightful book which provides a lot of valuable information and some really good advice. I certainly found this book to be a very good source of information during my stay. I also read M. J. Poynter’s “Greetings from Ghana” which, despite being sexually charged with numerous erotic encounters, does capture a lot of the character and social norms of people in living Accra.

This book is excellent! Anyone thinking of travelling to Ghana shouldn’t leave without it. I found the book to be a very good source of reference for planning journeys, finding accommodation and visiting places of interest. Another book which I found very interesting was “Greetings from Ghana” by M. J. Poynter. This novel provides a very gritty depiction of live in Accra and is full of wonderful naughty stories which kept me amused.

Greetings from Ghana: An Englishmen's Adventures from the City of Accra

I visited Ghana in 2002 and I was interested in reading about someone else’s experience. This book certainly does provide a detailed description of the dusty streets of Accra with its throngs of people and busy markets. I recognized a lot of the places mentioned in the book and could relate well to what the author was saying. There are some interesting characters and the use of dialogue is very authentic. The author creates a lot of amusing situations which are very typical of the kinds of life which people experience in the city of Accra.
