Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. If you want a book to truly open your eyes to how the world if effecting our bodies, this is the book for you. If you wanting a book to give you a quick and easy answer go somewhere else. Sexy forever goes to great lengths to show us the effects of chemicals, and preservatives on our bodies. She shows how the simplest of items, like our bedding can cause problems with our weight, emotions, and bodies. It is a great eye opener for those that want to know what chemicals and preservatives to do your bodies. Unfortunately, though for those that want a quick answer or fix this book is not for you. The first part of the book, though very informative, does drone on. You have to get through alot of technical stuff to get to the heart of the answer. I would recommend this book for those that might have quite a bit of time on their hands to read quite a bit of background. It is also good for those that love background info or more techincal info. But those of us that just want the answer quick and easy this is definately not the book for you.

The Damascus Way

The Damascus way is the third in the Acts of Faith series. Each one focuses on different people that are in different areas of life. The Damascus way focuses on a young lady, Julia, who is a daughter of a gentile merchant. She finds out early on that her mother is not married to her father, and the status of her life is not what she thought it was. That in society's eyes Julia and her mother were lower then servants even though they have everything could want or need supplied from her father, who is a succeful gentil merchant. The story follows Julia, and how she finds people of The Way, followers of Jesus. It shows how she struggles with her mom's lack of belief, and how Julias faith grows over time. The story, like the other Acts of Faith books challenges those of faith to look to Jesus to provide what we need. It also brings about questions, and the courage to ask those questions seeking answers for those that don't believe. A book, and a series I would recommend to many.
