I love when an author's craft is so convincing that I'm tricked as a reader. Gillian Flynn is that masterful. Her writing will entice you to delve deeper into yourself as you become entangled in the lives of the book characters. A thriller!

Apple, peach, pear, or plum...pick a pie and the recipe is probably in this delightful young readers novel. Aunt Polly bakes the best pies in the country but when she dies, she leaves her secret pie crust recipe worth millions of dollars to her cat Lardo. Or does she?? Pie contests, suspicious news reporters, muscle women, Sky King, and new found friends all bake up into one delicious story.

Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter (Wheeler Hardcover)

Suspicious disappearances, snakes in mailboxes, chickens named after the First Ladies....what's not to like? Set in rural Mississippi in the 1990's with flashbacks to the 1970's, this murder mystery captures the essence of friendship between two boys. Their lives are intertwined in ways they don't understand until the end....until too late. Very suspenseful, deeply memorable characters, and snippy humor make this a real page turner. It would be ideal for book club discussions on accepting the truth, racial biases, and living with guilt.

Blood Bones & Butter The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef

"At first I was amazed that this memoir was so emotionally intense but then discovered, upon reading further, that the author/chef earned a college degree in English writing and had not attend culinary school. Each section of the novel is packed with images, tastes, relationships, and travel. I'd highly recommend it to all cooks and non-cooks alike."
