It was interesting to read a police procedural set in 1947, before the Internet, cell phones and all the other technology we take for granted now. Early on, I made a mental guess as to who the culprit could be, and I was correct. However, this did not spoil the rest of the book for me due to the investigation and twists and turns taken by the killer. Recommend for suspense/thriller/police procedural fans.

I Am Pilgrim A Thriller

You may have read books about agents in deep cover chasing terrorists all over the world, and this is another one. BUT, this is not an ordinary agent or an ordinary terrorist - they are both the best at what they do. This book is 600 pages of WOW. Action, suspense, great characters, nerve-racking situations, etc., it's all here and so well written. I loved that there was no gratuitous sex or romance, in my opinion they both waste pages. This is a must read for fans of suspense and/or espionage.

The Nature of Truth

I had a tough time getting into this book but after 100 or so pages, I was glad I stuck with it. The first part was a little slow and plodding for my taste and also refers to places and things related to Germany. Since my knowledge of Germany is limited, that may be why I struggled with it. Once the action starts, though, it does get suspenseful and throws in some interesting plot twists. You may or may not be surprised by the ending, depending on your view of right or wrong.

Wow! What an awesome read. If you are a fan of international espionage, you'll like this one. Very well written, and characters so well developed that I found myself casting a movie as I read. I appreciate that the romance was minimal, an integral part of the story and did not go on for pages and pages about the "anatomy" of the activity (we all know where the parts go). The ending dictates another book starring Tom Kell will be forthcoming and I can't wait to read it. Must read for thriller and/or spy fans.

Sting of the Drone

Terrifying, fascinating and completely enjoyable. It could happen (maybe it already IS happening). We're smarter than the bad guys but the bad guys have the money to buy the brains they lack. Love the technology of the drones and appreciate that it was explained in a way that a non-military, non-techie can understand it. Highly recommend.

While this was a little outside my usual reading preference of hard core thrillers, I did enjoy it. Very well written with an interesting cast of characters. Author has deep understanding of foreign service policy/procedure and of the political situations in the Congo. I found the first 200 or so pages a little slow however it did lay the foundation for an exciting 2nd half of the book.

Six Years
by
Harlan Coben

I've been a Harlan Coben fan for years and have read several of his previous books. This one is different. For the first 50 or so pages, you may think this is a mushy love story. I did and almost stopped reading it. But it's Coben - he wouldn't do that, would he? So fellow readers, stick with it and you'll find this is NOT a mushy love story but a complex mystery. Can you figure it out before the end?

I very seldom give a 5 star rating, even for books I thoroughly enjoy. Usually there will be a couple of things I would change, thus it's not perfect for me. There's not one thing I would change about this book. It is gripping suspense, some creepy characters and chilling situations. There is no fluff, no page after page of gratuitous romance or boring irrelevant back stories. Don't know how I missed this author but now that I've found Sharon Bolton, I do want to read the first 3 in the Lacey Flint series. I highly recommend for suspense fans.

Killing Floor: Jack Reacher 1
by
Lee Child

I've been reading the Jack Reacher series for years. Last year I went back to the beginning to read Killing Floor and it was an excellent read. Lee Child has created an enjoyable and memorable character and never fails to entertain. And by the way, for you movie fans, Tom Cruise is NOT Jack Reacher. Would love to see more Reacher movies with better casting.

Lehane never disappoints. Imaginative and creative, much more than a typical gangster tale. Great action and even a little romance.

A thriller that grabs you from the first page then twists and turns throughout the complex story. Superb cast of diverse characters. Engaging to the last page, with an opening for what could be a perfect sequel.
