Blue Eyed Devil

Robert B. Parker wrote just 4 books in the Virgil Cole/Everett Hitch western series and that is a shame. Each of them is an excellent story with 2 of the most unforgettable charactors from the old west. If you enjoy Larry Mac Murtry's westerns then you are in for a treat. These stories are concise, straight forward, action packed and thoroughly enjoyable. In Blue-eyed Devil Virgil & Hitch run up against a very nasty indian and an even nastier Chief of Police, one Amos Callico. All is well as long as Hitch and Cole work for/with Callico but eventually things turn sour and the S hits the F! A lotta fun!

Phantom Prey
by
John Sandford

Not as good as the previous Prey novel. Good action, decent mystery. Lucas Davenport is the main focus and Virgil Flowers is not in the story although he is mentioned. I think that Sanford is too good of an author to resort to a somewhat pedestrian and cliched conclusion for one of the two storylines. He does include a few good laughs and it was nice to have Del Klapsok back.
