Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Measure of the Magic Legends of Shannara 02
by
Terry Brooks

I have read and loved Brooks' works for over 30 years. I'm delighted with how he "filled in the back story" of Shannara, from modern times to post apocalypse. The Measure of Magic ties it all up very well and now I'm ready to start all over with the Sword again!

Hunger Games Trilogy Box Set
by
Suzanne Collins
Beth Doyle
, January 19, 2012
The Hunger Games Trilogy moved me more that I would ever have expected. I will read it again and be more objective when it's been long enough, but it really made me wonder where our world is going. No character left un-flawed and no heart left unbroken, but redemption in the end... that's a great trilogy.

Time Trilogy 3 Volumes
by
Madeleine LEngle

I cannot believe this set is so hard to locate new! These were among my favorite books as a grade school kid... looking for my nephew's christmas, I'm surprised how uncommon (out of print?) they are! These are excellent books to get kids thinking on what "might be". They also show great values in family love, sharing, caring and pulling together to achieve a goal. Science, fiction and fun all together, what more can you ask!
