Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

Project Daedalus

I recently started reading Project Daedalus, mostly I picked it up because the title piques my curiousity. I have to say, though, that I am favorably impressed. Thomas Hoover is a very good writer, and I would compare him to Tom Clancy, on that, the Clancy books that I have enjoyed, you get to experience the book from different perspectives. Primarily, the main character is Michael Vance, but you also get to hear the story through other characters eyes, and that is what makes it so readable, in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this book, and I am also intending on reading the next book, Project Cyclops.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed Little Bear books as a child, until I got out Little Bear to read to my three year old. I had forgotten how all four of the stories in each book flow together, and are all brought together in the last story. If you have children, I definitely recommend the Little Bear books!

I used to enjoy Little Bear when I was a child, and just pulled out Little Bear to read to my three year old. I was going to stop after only two of the stories, and sae the other two for later, but she made me read the whole thing, and it wqas cool how the fourth story, which was the last one, tied everything together. Good times sharing with my daughter, I'm glad I found this book the lat time I was at Powell's!

I discovered J.D. Rhoades on Amazon, for my Kindle, and found this book at Powell's, and was pleasantly supprised by how well he writes. If anyone is looking for a good action/mystery, check his books out!
