Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

Sex at Dawn: How We Mate, Why We Stray, and What It Means for Modern Relationships
by
Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha
John Visher
, June 13, 2018
This is a well researched book on who we were for the million years that preceded the last five thousand years of farming. The garden of Eden was literally a paradise (a garden), but gardens are nothing more than glorified farm fields, and farm fields are a lot of arduous and dirty work, best done by friendly slaves. Before agriculture, we were always out of work, unemployed, jobless, homeless, propertyless -- completely and totally free. To be sure, some genetic morphing has taken place in this era of agriculture, but even now, most people dread farm work. We really haven't evolved so much in the last five thousand years, and we abhor the sexual rules laid down by the rulers and tax collectors and bankers who want us to toe the line and pay the fines. Read this book if you think the Garden Of Eden would have been a desirable place to live.

Solving 9 11 The Deception That Changed the World
by
Christopher Lee Bollyn
John Visher
, April 16, 2018
Christopher Bollyn has been onto the story of September 11, 2001 since the day. With training as an investigative journalist, and some years living and working in Israel, he was able to dive into the deep story quickly. Many of us were shell shocked by the barrage of lies, but Christopher had the presence of mind to investigate. Unlike anyone else, he has exposed the Israeli masterminds behind 9/11, and his telling of this story puts his life at risk. This is no politically correct analysis, but rather an direct assault on the brutal international ruling class. I commend his writings on the subject, and praise him as a hero in this ongoing class warfare of our current era.
