Dear John
by
Nicholas Sparks

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks is a very timely novel. The author with compassion gives an idea of what it feels like to be in the army away from a girl you love and a girl who returns your love. There are also other very important issues touched upon in the novel. Why is it difficult to become close to people we love? Is the tension just because one person is selfish, another person rebellious? Are there other reasons why it is so difficult to heal relationships? Leola

The Untelling by Tayari Jones is an unforgettable, true to life novel. A family tragedy lives in the minds and hearts of the surviving members for years. Each member of the family dealing with the tragedy in a different way, not always a healthy way. Along their journey in life unexpected obstacles come along. How do you deal with the unexpected? With honesty or dishonesty? It is a wonderful book. I am anxious to read another book by Tayari Jones.

The Immaculate Deception by Iain Pears is simply wonderful reading. The plot is a mystery surrounding the art theft of a Claude Lorrain painting. Iain Pears writing is elegant and intricate like a fine piece of artwork. Hattie
