Synopses & Reviews
Publisher Comments:
From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg comes a thrilling battle between the heroic Autobots® and the evil Decepticons®. When their epic struggle comes to Earth, all that stands between the Decepticons® and ultimate power is a clue held by young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Unaware that he is mankind's last chance for survival, Sam and Bumblebee, his robot disguised as a car, are in a heart-pounding race against an enemy unlike anything anyone has seen before. It's the incredible, breath-taking film spectacular that USA Today says "will appeal to the kid in all of us.
Review:
"If it's true that there's an 8-year-old boy inside every man, Transformers is just the ticket to bring the kid out." Variety
Review:
"It's goofy fun with a lot of stuff that blows up real good, and it has the grace not only to realize how preposterous it is, but to make that into an asset." Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
Review:
"Transformers has some of the best action sequences you'll see all summer." Washington Post

I thought this movie was just about perfect. A little too PG-13, but oh well. Shia Leboeuf was great. It really made me want to see more movies w/him in it.
I was extremely worried about this movie. So many classics from my youth have been remade horribly, and Michael Bay is, well Michael Bay. Not my favorite director. But the story was good, w/just enough cheese to counteract the seriousness of it all. Optimus had the same voice actor. It was all good. We saw it twice in theaters, once in a regular theater, once in IMAX.
Seriously, if you don't already own this, why not?

"Transformers, more than meets the eye. Transformers, robots in disguise." The jerks don't even use the theme song. Does it ever feel like all the comics/toys/cartoons from your childhood are being made into loud, bloated movies? Michael 'Pear Harbor' Bay directs with his usual bombastic touch, but no one expects subtlety here. Do you want to see big, sleek robots knocking the crap out of each other? Me too. Too bad this movie had to have a plot and characters though. It also could've done with some more transforming.
