This revision of Bond's classic text is an introduction to the study of fishes. This text can be used for undergraduate courses in ichthyology or for fish sections of vertebrate biology courses. It provides an excellent background for the study of more advanced works on fishes.

As a professor at Centre College since 1979, Michael Barton has extensive teaching experience and his research expertise lies in the ecology and physiology of marine and freshwater fishes.
