Publisher Comments:

Featuring a completely new design, the fifth edition of Human Geography has been significantly revised and updated around the phenomenon of globalization. The book starts out by defining globalization a metaconcept-a concept that helps frame our understanding of essential geographical concepts such as space, location, place, region, distance, scale, diffusion, perception, development, and discourse. All chapters have been re-written to emphasize the importance of globalization in political geography, cultural geography, economic geography and other types of geographic study. In addition, more than 100 new photographs accompany the concepts in the text.
