Louis Sachar revisits characters from Holes in his latest novel, Small Steps. Wild schemes and chance encounters propel this story along to its
dramatic climax. Along the way, issues of race and celebrity are adeptly
explored.

Publisher Comments:
In his first major novel since Holes, critically acclaimed novelist Louis Sachar uses his signature wit combined with a unique blend of adventure and deeply felt characters to explore issues of race, the nature of celebrity, the invisible connections that determine a person’s life, and what it takes to stay on course. Doing the right thing is never a wrong choice–but a small step in the right direction.

This is a great book for young kids to read. My child reads this book together with her class and they do projects and vocabulary and stuff like that. I think this would be a good book for people all over the world to read though

As with all of Louis Sachar's books, this one is good. Taking place where "Holes" leaves off, it follows the character "Armpit" and his follies. There's a reason that Powell's only has one left! The demand can only go up, for a well written book.

This sequel to "Holes" was beyond my expectations. A slightly more mature story line, "Small Steps" follows Armpit as he attempts to adjust to civilian life after the juvenile correction system. His probation officer advises him to take small steps, but he falls for a pop star, befriends a handicapped girl, scalps tickets, and may be accused of murder! This book is action packed and poignant. Can Armpit stay out of trouble and ever win his parents' trust?
