The volume provides definitions and general explanations in English, supplemented with specific explanations in Danish and/or German as required. The careful arrangement of terms in Danish and German allows near-independent use between these two languages. Heavy emphasis is placed on idiomatic language use with the inclusion of a large number of complex verb and noun phrases, everyday abbreviated terms, and names of institutions etc. When making the selection of terms, the compilers used their experience as professional translators of commercial and theoretical legal and financial documents. in Danish and German. Sometimes synonyms are noted under a main
entry; for example under Appropriate are noted suitable, necessary,
fitting and well chosen. The form of the English term is also noted,
such as noun, verb, or adjective. Both of the other sections only
refer to the English entry or entries, so that translating between
Danish and German is only possible by passing through the English,
thus doubling the opportunity for misunderstanding. The selection is
based primarily on established and emerging usage within the legal
terminology of the European Community; a list of documents used is
provided.
