Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The revised edition of the highly successful, seminal book that has introduced generations of architects and designers to the principles of lighting

Written by one of the world’s masters of architectural lighting design, Interior Lighting for Designers, Fourth Edition clearly and concisely describes the same steps in the lighting design process that a professional follows in practice.

Working from the premise that lighting design is a rational process, author Gary Gordon provides a solid conceptual foundation based on the conviction that the lighting condition of interiors has enormous emotional impact on people. With an emphasis on designing light, tools and techniques for every phase of his process are presented as a means to achieve the optimal design.

New features in this edition include:

  • Thorough examinations of the latest advances in lighting technology and practice
  • The newest light sources, fixtures, and systems
  • More than 250 illustrations, photographs, and color plates

Learn the importance of how objects and surfaces receive light–Gary Gordon’s guiding principle–and develop the skills to design comfortable environments that encourage productivity and well-being, without an overt display of lighting technique.

Brimming with theory and technical information, Interior Lighting for Designers, Fourth Edition is an invaluable reference for both students and design professionals.
