Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:Written within a biopsychosocial framework, Cavanaugh and Blanchard-Fields' best-selling text covers the specific ages-stages of adult development and aging. In its unparalleled coverage of current research and theory, the authors draw clear connections between research and application. The book's focus on "positive aging" and the gains and losses people experience across adulthood distinguish it from its competitors. This edition features more real-world examples and new research trends. Book News Annotation:Written for upper-division undergraduate students, this psychology
textbook places adult development and aging into the context of the
whole human experience, and introduces the biological, sociocultural,
and life-cycle forces and models that form the foundation for
studying adult development and aging. The fifth edition adds a
closing chapter on demographic trends and social policy.
Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com) Review:"The students really like the case examples presented in the introduction sections of chapters and throughout the chaptersàthe end of the chapter review and questions are excellentà" Review:"A readable, comprehensive and interesting text (with) broad coverage and some unique areas, such as social cognition, not normally found in other texts." "The pedagogical features are very well done. They stimulate critical thinking, have a high level of interest for students, and put a "face" on the concepts/research." Review:"The book is written by two well-known and relevant people in aging and developmentàThese two have done extensive aging and development research and that is key for this book to continue to be used and admired by professionals." Review:"I would recommend this text àit is thorough, accurate, and clear. They style of writing will make this text accessible to undergraduates at most colleges and universities, and it should be noted that the latter is accomplished without sacrificing complex material or concepts. Throughout the text, age-related changes are neither over-stated nor under-stated: permitting a balanced and accurate depiction of the research on aging and its implications for real people." "The Cavanaugh and Blanchard-Fields text includes a chapter on Social Cognition that is interesting as well as thorough; enabling instructors to highlight these timely and exciting research domains in a way that should stimulate thought-provoking discussions in the classroom. In addition the chapter about person-environment interactions would facilitate explaining aspects of aging relevant to this area that can be difficult to convey to undergraduates because of their complexity." Synopsis:Never HIGHLIGHT a Book Again! Virtually all testable terms, concepts, persons, places, and events are included. Cram101 Textbook Outlines gives all of the outlines, highlights, notes for your textbook with optional online practice tests. Only Cram101 Outlines are Textbook Specific. Cram101 is NOT the Textbook.
