Publisher Comments:
All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry's room is a closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry and anyone who reads about him will find unforgettable.
For it's there that he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic in everything from classes to meals, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him...if Harry can survive the encounter.

These books are the most poorly written things I have ever read and should only be used as toilet paper. The writing level is that of a third grader, and the plot is incredibly unoriginal. I would not recommend this series to anybody with half a brain and an appreciation for GOOD literature.

I had the bad experience that I really didn't like the two movies I saw, which put me off reading the books for a long time. But I have to say the books are so much better, because you get so much more depth to the characters. You feel closer to them because a book is intimate, not just another huge special effects blockbuster, hollywood style. The books have soul! And this is where it all started. No one should miss out on this!

I first read this book when I was about 15. I loved it. That is where it all started. I couldn't stop! I ready the next 2 and eagerly awaited the 4th.
I don't understand when people have only seen the movies. The books are so much better than the movies (which I also enjoy). They need to be read. Read it!
