'Operation Millennium' was the terrible culmination of months of pressure from 'Bomber' Harris to get this new and deadly strategy accepted. It was an extraordinary feat of organization involving 1048 bombers, over 6000 aircrew and 53 British airfields. To ensure success, 'maximum effect' was the order. The Royal Air Force waged a campaign against any airmen whom showed faltering commitment, ruthlessly trying them by court martial.
