the IEEE VR'99 conference held March 13-17 in Houston presented a
full agenda indeed. Following the keynote address ("What's Real about
Virtual Reality?") and a future-oriented speech by a Silicon Graphics
representative, nine sessions massage: distributed and system
architecture, algorithms (especially intriguing: "Cloning and Virtual
Aging in a VR Family"), simulation, evaluation and human factors I
and II, navigation and teleoperations, interaction/display,
applications, tracking, and interfaces (haptic). Also includes ten
