Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:Since its first publication in 1965, this text has been the definitive clinical book in the field. Written by more than 100 international experts, the focus is on the clinical aspects of treating pulmonary disease. The text is evidence-based and full of practical examples. Chapters are highly structured to provide quick access to information. The Seventh Edition has been condensed into a single concise yet comprehensive volume. A Brandon-Hill recommended title. Book News Annotation:<:st> Designed to serve as a desk reference as well as textbook for
students and residents, the sixth edition was identified in
as an "initial purchase" and as needed for a
"minimal core list" of books in a medical library. More tightly
focused than earlier editions, the seventh is confined to 70 authored
chapters, all of them completely rewritten, contained in a single
volume. The volume is divided by disease and diagnostic method, with
individual chapters on pulmonary aerosols, pulmonary fungal
infections, approaches to interstitial lung disease, pathophysiology
and clinical disorders in pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer,
industrial hygiene, acute respiratory failure, immunodeficiency
diseases, genetics of lung disease, management of pleural diseases,
and respiratory disorders of sleep. The 106 authors are specialists
who practice mainly in the US, although some are in Canada and Europe.
