Paradigm for Decentralized Process Modelingby Israel Ben-shaul
Synopses & ReviewsBook News Annotation:Offers a novel approach to implementing and managing a process
modeling project that is dispersed geographically among individuals
or teams with their own autonomous processes. Emphasizing a flexible
control over the degree of collaboration versus autonomy, describes
abstraction mechanisms by which pre- existing workflows can be
encapsulated to retain the security of their internal artifacts and
status date while agreeing with other processes on formal interfaces
through which all their interactions are conducted with intentionally
shared information. Primarily applicable to software engineering and
development, but could also be used in electrical, mechanical, civil,
and other areas of engineering. Suitable as a graduate text. Based on
a 1992-94 doctoral dissertation for Columbia University.
