Synopses & Reviews
This volume compiles research results from the fifth Function Spaces International Conference, held in Poznan, Poland. It presents key advances, modern applications and analyses of function spaces and contains two special sections recognizing the contributions and influence of Wladyslaw Orlicz and Genadil Lozanowskii.
Book News Annotation:
These 44 papers represent the fifth in a series of international
conferences periodically held, usually in Poznan, under the same
title. Four survey articles first honor the memory of two prominent
mathematicians (pictured): W. Orlizc, founder of the school of
functional analysis in Poznan, and G. Lozanowsky, a member of the St.
Petersburg school of lattice theory. Research papers then advance the
field in relation to the topographical and geometric properties of
function spaces, and their order structures; and applications of both
the general theory and the study of particular spaces: e.g. in
approximation theory, fixed point theory, probability theory, and
differential operators. The editors work in mathematics and computer
science at Adam Mickiewicz U., Poznan, Poland. The proceedings of
Function Spaces V was published as a special issue of Collectanea
Mathematica, v. 48 (1997). Lacks an index.
