Publisher Comments:

This book, published by the Boone and Crockett Club, captures the tales of the hunts for the top 117 North American big game animals entered in the Club's 25th Awards Program. It lists 4,220 trophies accepted in 36 of the 38 North American big game categories recognized by the Boone and Crockett Club. Stories told by the hunters themselves provide exciting reading and provide invaluable information about areas currently producing trophy quality big game animals. These stories provide interesting insights into the hunting techniques used in each hunting situation. Specialized techniques used for each big game species and adaptations for the different habitat types in which each species is found provide interesting and useful information for experienced, as well as novice sportsmen. Each story is unique and each hunter has their own special way of capturing in words the intensity of their experiences. The common thread that runs through all of these stories is the deep respect shared by the hunters for the animal being pursued and the Fair Chase ethic shared by the hunters.

The records section of this book provides detailed information about each of the accepted entries and lists the areas where the animals were harvested. Many interesting facts are included in this wealth of data making it the authoritative guide for hunters and wildlife professionals alike.

In this era of ever increasing challenges to our wildlife and our natural resources, Boone and Crockett Club's 25th Big Game Awards 2001-2003, celebrates the many wonderful successes unique to the management and conservation of big game in North America.

Synopsis:

Every three years the Boone and Crockett Club publishes a new Awards book featuring all of the greatest trophies taken and entered in its world-recognized Awards Program. This 700-page volume is the most up-to-date big game records book available--containing a complete listing of over 4,000 trophies accepted from 2001 to 2003. Each listing includes the final score; selected measurements; location and date of kill; hunter and owner; as well as the rank in the 25th Awards Program. What sets this publication apart from other books are the tales of the hunts for the top North American big game trophies in the 25th Awards Program, including new World's Records for muskox, pronghorn, Roosevelt's elk, bighorn sheep, non-typical Sitka blacktail, and non-typical Columbia blacktail.

Learn about the hunts for some of the highest ranking trophies ever taken by today's hunters--such as Jerry Bryant's non-typical whitetail deer, which was entered as the largest whitetail deer taken by a hunter. Stories told by the hunters themselves provide exciting reading and invaluable information about areas currently producing trophy quality big game animals. Each hunt is unique and each hunter has his or her own special way of capturing in words the intensity of the experience.

In this book readers will also find hundreds of photographs--portraits of the top 100 or so trophies, hunters in the field, and a special 32-page color section of the best field photographs from the 25th Awards Program--not to mention 17 score charts including all the measurements for the top-scoring trophies.
