Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:This autobiography is about a man who began his career as an apprentice butcher traveling throughout Germany from 1872-1874. He lived near the German-Dutch border in a time period that some consider one of the best times to be alive. Hubert had a brief 2-year stint in the the German army in 1876, then continued his colorful life as a civilian. If there is such a thing as living life to the fullest, then Hubert Dielen has done it. He managed to avoid all of life's pitfalls unscathed in addition to having a family of nine children. The book includes two detailed maps, a handwriting sample, twelve photgraphs, and more. About the AuthorHubert Dielen wrote his autobiography nine months before he died in 1926. Although entrepreneurial, Dielen only had a grade school education and he was a self-taught man who continued to learn throughout his life.
