Synopsis:
In the daily battle for our hearts and minds--not to mention our hard-earned cash--the truth is usually the first casualty. It's time we learned how to see through the rhetoric, faulty reasoning, and misinformation that we're subjected to from morning to night by talk-radio hosts, op-ed columnists, advertisers, self-help gurus, business thinkers, and, of course, politicians. And no one is better equipped to show us how than award-winning philosopher Jamie Whyte.
In Crimes Against Logic Whyte take us on a fast-paced, ruthlessly funny romp through the mulligan stew of can, folderol, and bogus logic served up in the media, at the office, and even in your own home. Applying his laserlike wit to dozens of timely examples, Whyte cuts through the haze of facts, figures, and double-talk and gets at the real truth behind what they're telling us.
An incisive philosopher.

I wasn?t really sure what to expect when I delved into this book. I heard it was witty and sarcastic ? it is. I heard Whyte was blunt and highly political ? he is. Did I like it? From politics to religion, Whyte attacks the false logic he sees in every argument. He analyzes the lies of politicians and the existence of God. So sure, I liked parts of this book. It is well written and it makes you think, but it was a little too opinionated and blunt for my taste.
After reading this book, I feel that everyone should do some thinking on their own to determine what they really find false in the world. I decided that I needed to spruce up my overall knowledge ? from politics to the environment. I found this great site called agogus.com, which has knowledge reports on just about every topic you can think of. Everyday, I read up on something new and I have a much clearer grasp on the issues affecting our society and the world. So, if you read this book and you find yourself seeking more knowledge, Agogus is a must.
