The Book Club Companion: A Comprehensive Guide to the Reading Group Experience Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A novel approach to gathering and entertaining literary friends.

Booksellers know very well how ubiquitous the reading group has become, and The Book Club Companion is full of innovative ideas designed to entertain their members and enrich the book club experience. Inside, club members will find:

  • The 10 Indispensable Titles across several literary genres including Beloved Lit, Brit Lit, Book Club Favorites, Classic Lit, Black Lit, Noir Lit, Literary Respite, Nonfiction that Reads Like Fiction, and Memoir
  • Childhood favorites
  • "Guilty pleasure" titles
  • Conversation starters and tips for keeping discussions lively
  • Theme gatherings and special places for meetings
  • Drink and food recipes
  • Craft ideas
  • And much more

Review:

"It will be with some trepidation that I heartily recommend this reference to the 60 clubs registered with our store. If I hide it from them, then I may remain a necessary resource. If they own The Book Club Companion, however, their book club 'coordinator' may become superfluous! My compromise will be to quote Diana Loevy on the many topics she includes — from discussion basics to the New Year's Resolutions for book clubs — and hope that I am credited with channeling her wit and wisdom!" Cheryl McKeon, Book Club Coordinator, Third Place Books

Synopsis:

Filled with innovative ideas designed to enrich the whole book club experience, The Book Club Companion presents a novel approach to gathering and entertaining literary friends, with drink and food recipes, craft ideas, and more.
