About the Author

Laura Numeroff is the author of many books for young readers in addition to the If You Give... series, including The Chicken Sisters and Laura Numeroff's 10-Step Guide to Living with Your Monster. She lives in Los Angeles, CA where she loves to ride horses, read biographies, and play with her pets. A portion of her royalties will be donated to First Book, a national nonprofit organization that promotes children’s literacy.

I bought my first copy of If You Give A Mouse A Cookie many years ago for my own self (age 45 at the time) because it made me laugh when I saw it at my branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. I have since given many copies to nieces, nephews and young friends - they never fail to continue the story with their own imaginings of what would happen if you gave a mouse a cookie . . . the next copy goes to my grand-nephew in Oregon for his 5th birthday. It is very enternaining and it's a great story. It leads from one thing to the other and it can be related with many things other than its theme. It is fun, educational and a great story to read to children. It never gets boring at it makes children laugh. I've enjoyed it since I was a kid.
