Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Inside little blue envelope 1 are $1,000 and instructions to buy a plane ticket.

In envelope 2 are directions to a specific London flat.

The note in envelope 3 tells Ginny: Find a starving artist.

Because of envelope 4, Ginny and a playwright/thief/bloke-about-town called Keith go to Scotland together, with somewhat disastrous — though utterly romantic — results. But will she ever see him again?

Everything about Ginny will change this summer, and it's all because of the 13 little blue envelopes.

Review:

"This is a girl's book....Boys will find the males in the story a bit silly, but girls will find it delightful." Children's Literature

Review:

"As she comes to the last of the letters, Ginny has grown from the shy teenager she was to one who is more independent, more invested in the life around her." KLIATT

Review:

"[T]he novel drives home the importance of family, love, and the value of connections that you make with people. It is a quick read that will interest high school girls." School Library Journal

Review:

"Johnson's writing is sophisticated and humorous, her characterizations pitch perfect." Kirkus Reviews

I'm a big fan of young adult fiction and this is a great example of why! Characters that I cared about. Adventures that I coveted. Beautiful language and dialogue that didn't distract me by its beauty. I was delightfully surprised, after reading the book, to find that there was a sequel.

I had a lot of fun reading this. It's a great summery fun read with a fun story line and good characters.

I found the story to be quite exciting and engaging. But I was very disappointed with the ending. The novel was so well written, yet the ending just didn't live up to the rest of the novel.
