"Invitation to the Talmud: A Teaching Book" is a fine guide that will give you a taste of the Talmud and inspire you to read a complete chapter or two of the Talmud in translation. A prolific scholar, Dr. Jacob Neusner has translated the Mishnah, Babylonian Talmud, and Jerusalem Talmud.
